My car has the original header with 55k miles. Should I buy new gaskets, or reuse my current ones when changing the header?

 

i just reused mine when i swapped headers. no problems

 

ive reused mine like 10 times

 

Reused mine twice and my car has 101K miles.

I've reused a valve cover gasket with no problems...

**** i do that all the time when i mess with the cam gear settings...i put the silicon sealant, and its stuck to the head, so i just carefully put the valve cover on.....no leaks....one day ill get another though..

i would not recommend reusing an *** gasket tho

 

ive reused my header gasket 4 times & the valve cover gaskets, gromets & spark plug seals like 5-6 times. no leaks....yet.

 

I went to pick up my header, and the supplier gave the shop the wrong one

Now I have to find something constructive to do tomorrow.

 

Out of curiosity, how much does a header gasket go for?

 

iv reused header gasket with no probs

and iv used my valve cover gasket about 10 times. no probs

 

We pulled the header off a friend's LS with about 140K miles on it to put a new one on, and the gasket didnt seal properly.

So for $11 or so, its easy to just replace it when the header is off.

 

Back from the dead,

My gasket is still working. The header has been off half a dozen times at least.

 

youre such a resurrector

for 10 bucks, you cant go wrong replacing the gaskets.

 

Ive reused the header gasket countless times, valve cover gasket a bunch, donut gasket, etc.

As long as they are in good shape when you take them off, there is no reason to replace them.
