bottom alternator bolt......

Default bottom alternator bolt......

ok so i took the nut off of the bottom alternator bolt....and been hittin it with a sledge hammer......****** wont move....its not threaded or nethin......any suggestions? cant seem to get it

im not being a smart *** but you did take the belt off and undo the top bolt to get it to pivot right?

yea the top two bolts are off along with that bracket, the plug is dissconnected and so is the ground

does the alternator pivot freely or is that rough as well... the only thing i can say is to put some WD-40 or equivalent and try some "convincing"

yea i can pry it back an forth with a prybar.....doesnt exactly move freely.....sprayed some pb blaster on it.....bringin it to a friends tomorrrow to torch the sucker off

yeah you should be able to move it by hand.
does the alternator have a removeable mount like on the d16? if so u may be able to remove it with the mount still attached and then let you other tools do the talking

Did you ever get that bolt free. I have been having the same exactly problem with my 1998 Civic EX.

I have heated, pb blaster, heated, pb blaster then sledged the **** out of it like every day for the past 5 days. I have not given up yet. But the bolt is not moving at all. I can pry the alternator back and forth on the pivot bolt with a pry bar and a hammer, this blows!

Hopefully you got yours off and can tell me what you did !!!

The Alternator does have a that removable mount, it is held on by two 14mm bolts. One can be accessed easily, the other is blocked by the alternator itself.
