I am trying to install the slide pins/sleve in the new calipers I bought, but I do not understand where to start threading the bolt from.




On this picture it would be #19 20 and 25

Here is the part i am taking about, where there is the yellow cap.

How do I get the bolt through there to attach it to the bracket?

maybe i might be missing what your saying but pull the yellow plug out and slide the bolt through to your bracket

 

That yellow plug is just to keep dirt or debris out of the threads.

take the black stuff out...should be an allen screw...then use the allen wrench

If I'm not mistaken, you slide the bolt in through the part with the black rubber piece through the caliper and into the bracket...

 

or yea that too...hahaha slide it through...
usually its like a screw but i guess diffrent story

Thanks, ill check that out.

To everyone else the hole the yellow cap is in is about 1mm in diameter, no screw or bolt will go threw that.

 

there are two different ways most honda calipers mount. One has a fixed pin that is mounted to the caliper bridge (remove one bolt spin caliper upwards away from the rotor and slid it off the top pin or ones that mount with two bolts. The pic of the caliper you posted is the first one, nothing bolts to it there and it looks like the diagram you have is the two bolt one. Wrong parts???

 

These are remaned calipers, they came with a shim that goes in there and a bolt, but I have no way of getting the bolt in there...

Theres nothing inside of that either to undo with an allen head..

So basically its supposed to be a fixed pin and pre assembled?

Ya I understand how things work, ive done two engine swaps and a 300zx brake swap on my 240sx, but this is confusing the living expletive out of me.

The other pin is the normal style that you put threw and bolt into the bracket, but the other side with the closed end (yellow plug) is confusing.

no the 1 mm hole is in that yellow plug as said before REMOVE THE YELLOW PLUG and slide the bolt through to the mounting bracket that is where the caliper can pivot when doing a brake pad replacment.

I hope by black stuff you arent reffering to the dust boot that should not be removed

 

Next time, if you do not know how to reassemble your calipers, dont purchase just a caliper, you should be asking for "Loaded Calipers". They will come with the caliper, caliper bracket, bleeder valves, brake pad hardware, and brake pads. All assembled. All you do is attach to the hub and attach the brake line and bleed.

 

My GOD this isn't that hard.... slide bolt #21 through the brass color slider #25, bolt this to the caliper hanger #7. The head of the bolt should be smaller than the guide #19 now take you caliper slide it over the pin and install bolt #22 in the other caliper hole. It was designed this way so the caliper can be left on the car you can remove the 1 bolt swing the caliper out of the way and change the brake pads push the caliper and replace the bolt. Total bolts removed to change brake pads 4 or 5 lug nuts 1 caliper bolt.

you dont slide nothing through the yellow peice, its through the bracket as he said

Have you made any headway since your discovery of the yellow plug being just a removable dust cap?

 

There shouldn't be a bolt going through there at all.

On the '92-00 Civic non-EX/non-EM1/non-ABS calipers, there is only 1 bolt holding the caliper to the bracket. That single bolt goes through the bottom mounting hole on the caliper and threads into the bottom slide pin.

The caliper just hangs/hinges on the top slide pin; there is no bolt there. You just slide the caliper onto the pin when installing.

The slide pin is held on buy a bolt the bolt is #21 the slide pin is #25

That is what I said several post before. This guy seems to be really confused as to how to put this thing together I just want to make sure he understands and gets it put together right.

You've got to pay attention when you're taking it apart so that you'll know how to put it back together!
