Default IDLEING ISSUES

Bought another civic hb with a bad IntakeManifold. The motor in the Hatch is a D-15 1.5L. i put a D-16 IntakeManifold and TB as a replacement. The new Manifold provides alot more air then the Old Manifold. When starting the car i'm getting a incorrect gas and air flow mixture thats causing the car to IDLE to 3000rpm for about a sec then drops to 1000rpm.. It continues to do this, i reset the computer by taking off the negitive cable, and still am receiving an incorrect results. I did notice that i forgot to put a gasket in between the TB and Manifold. Do you think this could be the reason why the car is idleing incorrectly? Will the car just need to be tuned if i do install a gasket and contuine to receive the same problems?

Thanks for the much needed advise

try turning down the idle on the TB and get the ecu tuned for a mod like that.

It's not a mod and don't touch the idle screw yet.

First things first, install everything correctly. If you're missing a gasket, you're creating a vaccum leak. Start there, as there may be others.

to the OP, i agree with t0p_sh0tta, install the gasket you are missing, and double check all your hoses at the I/M. it sounds like a vaccuum leak some where.

Thanks for the advise, I am going to replace the TB today. on the New M/I there is a extra coolant Port that was not on the old/broken M/I. Could this be a problem? i closed it off with a clamp. All the port does is leak alot of coolant, i dont think that is the problem. Just to confirm though, what do you think about that? and what should be done to that extra port? Keep it clampled off or what? in conclusion, i believe it is the gasket that is messing with the sensors. My main thang that i am trying to avoid is having to go get the car tuned. i just dont have the money for that right now. do you think i will have to end up getting this mod tuned with the ecu?

Again, thanks for the help.
