Default Bad calipers?

My last rotors had waves in them after long term use with panther plus carbotech pads.

now, after 2 days at Homestead miami, very hard on brakes track, my new rotors with panther plus pads have what seems to be the beginning of those deep grooves in the rotors. but this time the brakes were so hot they turned red, and everything metal turned a cool pinkish rust color. (dont think that has anythign to do with anything though)

Just for reference, the waves im refering to were peaks and valleys of maybe 5mm difference, 1 cm apart.

the rotors I have now even have what looks like to be spots of where the top layer of the rotor has been stripped off. like acid dripped on it all over the rotor. (but only eating the top layer. sorry I dont have pics.)

THey are autozone rotors.

So, are these waves/ really bad grooving becuase of bad calipers? They are CX calipers.

best bet would be to pick up another set of autozone rotors and locate some gsr brakes on the classifieds forum. hopefully the problem will be solved and at the same time your upgrading the brakes...

good luck

What do the pads look like? Are the used pads very smooth across?

With the rotor, is one side more worn than the other (for both the drivers side and passenger side rotors)?

it sounds like your getting heat checks in the rotor. if so, thats normal. and all the rust turning bright orange is normal as well. if you gould post a pic of your rotor that would help
do they look like this?

yup, those little heat stress cracks are normal. Don't worry too much about them. As long as your using new rotors with each new set of pads the cracks will not get big enough to cause any real problems. Also if you are not using brake ducts, then you should install some. They can really help keep the brake temps down.

The "hills and valleys" or whatever might be from improper pad bedding. If you weren't before, make sure you do that with new pads or new rotors. Otherwise, just sounds like properly abused brakes

It MIGHT be the case. It could also be that those puny 9.2" or whatever size those rotors are just suck for track abuse.
