I own a 97' Honda Civic LX (Non-VTech), I'm wanting to spice it up a little, i still have the stock engin, with a Venom 400 Computer Chip. Should i rebuild before i think about turbo or supercharge? Any suggestions on what to do??
As long as the motor is on good condition the stock internals can handle ~200whp.
IMO small displacement and superchargers don't belong in the same sentence, but that's just my cup of tea.
That computer chip isn't doing anything for you. I promise. Not on a stock engine.

Everyone asks turbo or supercharger, what to do. The question is, what do you want? Do you want a beast, daily driver, something fun, etc.
Give those answers, then HT will come up with great replies for you.

^^ Exactly, it's very hard to come up with a right answer for everyone.
it all depends on
Skill
Time
money
assets
tools
driving style
reliability needed
2nd car or no
etc, the list goes on.

No, there's nothing any basemap/chip can do to make a stock econobox peform better. You would need cams/boost etc.

Not sure how to rate skill, but not pro!! Um money looking no more than 3-4g's. have 2nd car but would rather not drive it... my Civic has 183.??? miles on it by the way!
With 183,000 miles on it I'd recommend a swap.
If you die hard want to go turbo and have a $4,000 budget, I would recommend you get a b18b and turbo it with a used kit you find in the marketplace. Make sure it's a quality kit though.
with $4000 you have a lo of options actually.

keep the car.
Just swap something it it.
be it a b18b, b18c1, b18c5, h22, f22, f20b, f23a, b16a, etc etc.
At 180k, you need a new motor if you're going to be pushing it.
