Engine light will not go out on 1997 civic manual trans . Put in new speed sensor no help with car runing and no load on alt at battery is putting out 12.22v. Could a alt make the engine light come on? Also ohm out wiring from speed sensor to ecm and it checks good. Any thoughts on this issue thanks

I did this already and its a code 17 vss I put one in and it did nothing and the old one is ok also?. So any ideas
