on 8 psi i made 220whp and it looked kinda like your graph but after we raised the boost it would break up and lose a lot of power.

yeap exact problem i have...

 

what did your tuner say your problem was?

 

anyone have any opinions on what my problem can be?

 

that downpipe is going to hinder alot of power in the higherboost levels.

I would stay away from the msd ignition box, an external coil might be a good idea , give you dizzy a little check over, make sure the ignitor and coil are still working good, if you get a multimeter and a manual you can check the resistance and make sure there still in spec. What did you gap the plugs down too?

 

we gaped down the plugs to 18. we had them at 25. we checked the distributer and everything is working fine. i havent checked with a multimeter yet.

i had problems with my last msd box. but im going to try another new one and see what happens.

 

i know i need a bigger downpipe. but for the meantime i want to get the car to make decent power the way it is.

yes i have on my car an oem coil and oem ignitor and oem spark plug wires and oem cap and rotor.

make sure you have a good ground to the valve cover. that was the cause of my spark blowing out.

 

its funny because i was thinking about adding a grounding kit. right now i just have the factory grounds.

i dont think ima spend the money on a aftermarket grounding kit. anyone else have an idea on what it could be?

 

What are your afr's. I am running 28 on 7e's (stock ignition) at 10.5lbs and if I run anything richer than 11.3:1 or so it will do the same. Runs perfect otherwise.

Also, why aren't you running 7e's?

 

im running 8's because the goal on 118octane was 500whp.

and on 93 oct 400whp.

my a/f ratio was always between 11.5-12.0 until it started to blow out spark.

on 8psi it made very little power but didnt blow out spark and on 14psi it blew out the spark.

I had very similar problems with my D series with M62 Endyn blower kit. I was running about 14-15 psi and the engine was missing like you describe. I tried many different things, like smaller gap, etc... but nothing fixed the problem till I wired in the MSD-6AL. I wired it up to the OEM coil, and was already using Magnecore 8.5mm wires with heat range 7 plugs. Once the MSD went in, the miss was totally gone. Period. I was even able to take the boost up to 22psi, open up the gap some, run heat range 8 plugs, and still no miss.
