Default Car Wont Start

swapped a b16 into my HB. Started after a little turning over, running on 3 cylinders. 1st cylinder burning very hot, not getting enough fuel. Car is started and for some reason friend pulls plug 1, car keeps running, had no effect on car whatsoever. he pulls plug 2, car dies. we start it up, pulls plug 3, car dies, doesnt come back on..

what could possibly be affected by this? other than a surge sent back to the dizzy, im still getting spark.

changed the injectors still wont start

any advice?

b16a swap, new plugs.

Well when you get a no start you have have to go through all the basics first.
1. spark
2. compression
3. fuel

1. when checking spark you can always just pull the plug and put it on the wire to see if you have spark but my favorite tool is a spark tester with adjustable gap cause you could have spark but not enough to ignite. so if you get one and open the gap real wide and the spark can still jump across it you know you got good spark. do this on all of them.

2. compression always a good idea just to see how healthy the motor is and maybe even show you if your base timing is off if all of them have low compression

3. now having fuel pressure on the rail doesnt mean it is getting in the combustion chamber so a noid light always is cool to help better identify if the injectors are opening up.

now all these things will allow the motor to run but performance of it will reley on other things.

Good Luck

the compression was 220 200 210 210

healthy, right?

i dont have a spark tester, and it looks like i have sufficient spark, and i know im getting fuel, the injectors are pushing some, how is this possible its not starting. im going to try to replace the plug wires and maybe swap the dizzy... not sure yet.

I understand that it may look like you have good spark but this could fool anybody and you can elimante and save yourself money if you buy a spark tester instead of wires and a dizzy. it takes very little to jump across a spark plug gap and it takes alot to jump across somthing that is 1\2 inch gap. just reconmened. and just curious how you know the injectors are opening up? just wandering. but like I said with these things theres no reson why it shouldnt run. if the crank sensor was out then you wouldnt have any spark if the cam sensor was out it would still run but injector pulse width would be crazy. so there you go. let me know what you come up with. I love perfoemance issues. and yes that is great compression.

where are you verifying spark? At the end of the sparkplug wire or at the coil?

end of wire im verifying spark. Ill go look for a spark tester.

These are the injectors out of the z6 i was running 3 weeks ago, it ran fine. (i swapped the injectors hoping that would be the problem, car still not starting).

just because the injectors are good dosent mean that there opening. still need a power and a ground thats where the noid light comes into playit will blink as the injector gets power and a ground showing that the controller is working.
