A buddy of mine has a 90 Civic hatch with a 91 CRX Si D16A that won't go over 3300 RPM. It acts like a rev limiter is kicking in at about 3300 RPM, and it runs rough getting getting to that point as well, any ideas.

 

any codes? how's timing? any ghetto rigging?

 

lol check the wires at the plugs of the ecu my buddies did it and make sure the wiring is fine..

 

check the dizzy. mine did that once and i had to shift at 35k all the time. the coils in my dizzy were all messed up.

 

what's a dizzy?

 

Check your map sensor and TPS to be sure they are plugged in. Sounds like Limp Mode to me.

a dizzy is a distributor.

hahaha say ello to limp mode... if you have codes get em cleared. If not its usually dizzy related.

 

i had the same problem once.. my cars wheels were off the ground and i was just tryin to rev it up to see what it sounded like... only went to 4500... im like wtf...

turns out the ecu was chipped with a 2 step enabled. haha i felt so stupid/happy when i found out
