^^^ he's correct
I guess they would call #2 a tensioner pulley(although kind of vague on these engines) but yea it's a tensioner/idler pulley for the A/C compressor belt. The A/C compressor bolts onto the bracket that #2 is attached too.

SO if I'm not going to be using power steering, or air conditioning, I can remove number 1 and 2 with no problems? Are they used in conjunction with anything else?

Can anyone vouch for this? (no offense). I'm just paranoid.

He is correct - AC, PS, and the Alternator have individual belts. It will affect nothing.

Haha I know, I know. That's kind of the whole point to the thread. I don't want AC so I can save some weight and have a less crowded bay. I figured it would be OK to remove the compressor, hoses, and AC fan without causing any mechanical problems, but I wanted to ask first.

Kill yourself please.
Stupid and Gay? Sorry, but when your engine is packed with a big turbo and no room in the front end for the condenser, something has to go...

ok well if its going into a built motor that is actually tracked then i can understand the removal of a/c. but i cant stand it when ricers running 15.5 at the track remove there a/c and p/s thinking its gonna yield big gains. for daily econo-boxes i think its stupid. end rant. and dont get all butt-hurt about an opinion

15.5 is fast yo if you hit the NoS.
Ya...Ricer/Stock cars, I would agree. They make stickers and Neon lights for that. Took every ounce of me not to slap the Sh*t out of a guy buying neons at the local checkers a couple days ago. Not butt-hurt, just don't lump all of us in
(I apologize for earlier...drinking more than my fair share tonight)
