metallic f'd up. paint brand compatibilty?? please help/advise
soooo. i paid a friend to paint my car and i had already bought some crappy paint from napa called crossfire. well it turned out looking like crap and now he wants to scuff it and respray it with dupont. so is this ok or should all the crappfire paint be removed before doing so????
thanks for any advice.

ive never heard of crossfire, but as long as the old paint was sanded well, u dont need to sand it all off. just make sure u sand the paint well before u respray
some metallics are hard to sprayust like the guy said before me, also, some metallics are going to require a drop coat to even out and have all the metallic flow out when spraying
I guess it depends. I spray metallics just fine without "dusting".
I honestly think it's the painter. I spray pearls just fine too.

damn do you work for SW or something. j/k
he said that he has always sprayed dupont which supposedly has a blender to add to the metallic to make it lay down even????
also the paint looks fine in certain light but in others it looks blotchy like the light is hitting the metallic in some spots and not in others creating light and dark areas

Never heard of a blender for dupont to make metallic lay down even, and I mix dupont daily. Like afformentioned its all in the painter, if you know the proper distance and pressure and gun speed, you will be fine. I painted my friends mugen wing alabaster silver and it came out mint no sag whatsoever.
