Default Performance questions about Maintenance!

If I burn about a quart of oil every week and a half, how much hp do you think is lost? If i replace the pistons and rings would this take care of the job and put it back to stock hp or would it be better to buy a new STOCK engine?
I plan on doing a mini-me swap in the future and want to know if this block is salvagable, b/c i can get a good running block for 100, but the pistons w/rings would only cost me about 50-75! let me know what you think!

oh, and are the d16a1 pistons the same as the d16a6's???

Well im sure if you fix whatever is causing the oil to burn it will be good as new.

you should really do some more test before going and just replacing rings and pistons just because alot of people tell you thats what it is,
is there blue smoke coming from your exhaust?... no other visible leaks?... the chances of the problem being rings really depends (how old the engine is, the way you drive.. all kinds of stuff) but do a few test first, compression test, if those results come out too low, then try a wet compression test, that should give you a more definate answer.

Yes it smokes blue. I drive regular but push it sometimes (not to the limit). How do I do a comp. check??? would it be better to just buy the other block that i know runs good?
