well im a newbie and ive been a whole week tryin to figure out and decode why my car hasnt had vtec.. so ive been searching around on the internet.. im running OBD1 with a P28 ECU..

ok anyways.. i saved this picture cause i figured it would help me out alot

...so i started with what ive been trying to figure out for the past week i tried the paper clip trick.. it give me a CODE 21 for the VTEC Selenoid.. ok.. so here i am down there looking at the A plug.. and SURE ENOUGH to my amazement..


so..i unplugged the negative battery cable..i spliced the wire on the selenoid.. and just ran me a wire back to the ECU and stuck it in the A4 Connector...


AND THEN i plug the battery cable back on.. START the car.. let it set for a min.. then i turn it back off....i still have a CEL ..i try the paper clip again... AND THEN I GET A CODE 22... VTEC PRESSURE SWITCH... i was like OH MY GOD.. so whoever done the swap never even wired in VTEC.. and i think.. whenever i get all my wires ran to the ECU from all the vtec components.. it should finally engage.. im just so mad it got dark on me and i couldnt finish it tonight..
i cant believe i didnt check that plug in the first place oh my gosh..BUT do u all think im on the right track.. prolly after i get the pressure switch wired up.. the KNOCK SENSOR should show up..sooo i think im on the right track. tell me what u all think?

 

I think you should have looked at this to begin with honestly. If wires aren't being run from the vtec components, you will always have a problem with vtec. Der

 

P28 doesn't look for knock sensor, and you are on the right track, good ****

 

what do u mean it doesnt look for the knock sensor.. so i mean...after i get the pressure switch..?... that should be it?

so the wires coming off the knock sensor.. i know they should be 2 of them... where do they go or do i even wire it up?

i still got a CODE 5 which is MAP sensor.. i found a new one for 25 dollars... if i replace that.. IT may fix it.. what exactly does the MAP sensor do? and the fellar up ahead said it puts my car in LIMP mode

stop hitting vtec while going 15mph on local streets like the other idiots

 

get it wired up and hit it when ever you want! also get that p28 chipped or get the correct ecu for the engine. goodluck!
