low idle
i noticed my car idle's at a low rpm. my friends have said it and my dad said it idles pretty low too. what do they mean low idle? at what rpm is it suppose to be at anyway. i've notcied it too cuz the steering wheel shakes. just want to know is that how its suppose to be or is there something i can do about it?

its suppose to idle at 500-750rpm...it could be the main relay or the fuel pump...prolly the main relay. does it start when its really hot outside?
mine idles at 400... I just dont wanna clean my IAC valve because i had a bad experience cleaning one from a Ford Probe where I lost the spring and the car ran like **** even after the new owner bought a new IAC valve... im probably gonna clean out my TB and adjust the idle if cleaning the TB doesnt work.
I had a little idle fluctuation (not really noticeable), but cleaned my IACV and TB after a friend did the same with his 92 GSR. Now both idle very steady, and it toned down his steering wheel shake. We're both at about 700-800rpm.
If you haven't done this, you should know that it will idle funky for a little bit, until the cleaner gets completely evaporated/burned throughout the engine.

well one thing i would do first is run some good fuel system cleaner the next time you fill up the tank and/or you can clean the IACV and TB manually.
i had a bad idle fluctuation when i was stopped somewhere. i put in some good fuel system cleaner in with a full tank of gas.about 3 weeks later everything was all good.no more problems.

yea it idles pretty low... im thinkin about cleaning my IACV since I read that DIY about it and it looks like it has no spring... as long as I dont lose the 2 seals I should be fine... im gonna clean my TB as well to see if that helps.

no you dont have to take off the intake manifold... the IACV should be bolted right to it with like 3 bolts... there should also be acouple hoses there and 1 clip.
