Default Seat choices and opinions

OK my '89 CRX project has come to the interior phase, and its time to choose something to replace the torn blue(ugh!) oem seats.
As an overview, the car is a STREET car, and I am a cheapass who appreciates value more than a name.

I am looking for anyones opinion on their aftermarket (or JDM ITR/CTR, etc) seats that they OWN or HAVE OWNED how do they fit, feel, look and have they held up? Do you feel you have had a good value from your seats??

Also: All-aluminum full-race seats need not apply, and stock SI seats need not apply, we all know how they are.

I really dont care if they are recaros, sparcos, corbeaus, brides, or even e-bay knockoffs, give me your opinions here, truthfully. Also, how much the seats set you back.

above all!! NO "My buddies mothers friends boyfrend had .....and they sucked /ruled the world" YOU have to owned the seats!!!

CHEERS

i have some JDM DC2 Recaros that need to go into my Si hatch, dont have them in yet im waiting on getting some brackets and rails from Wedge Engineering. but ill let ya know how they are once theyre in!

First impressions though just from sitting in them that they are nice to sit in, ive never really sat in anything else so i have no real means of comparision.

Oh ya I paid $1000 CDN for my seats (which are absolutely mint btw) and to get brackets and rails is gonna set me back another $500. If i had an EG or a DC2 Teg they would have bolted right in.

I had a set of black faux suede reclinable racing seats from ebay, they looked like sparco knock-offs and they were amazing...so comfy, I drove from north Georgia to mid-Flordia with one break. No numbness whatsoever.

i lucked out and found a guy that had them locally in my city. for that price i couldnt resist! most times if you find them online theyre dirty and worn, and after shipping up north it would be pricey, but i got to see and sit in em and that sold me on the spot! lol

heres a pic......dont mind the spots thats just my digi cam....

I like this thread cause I also am looking into getting new seats. I don't want any hard *** race seats nor do I want any used seats that going to be worn.

those fake seats are always comfy, i got those fake mugen seats and i could drive forever in them. my current setup is a carbon/kevlar Spoon lookalike from JDMCarboy.com and imlooking for a decent stock seat that will fit my DX that im gonna cover in my signature plaid that the rest of my interior is getting done in, got red carpet going in too. the only part i need is the middle peice for the center console that ive been junk searching for. I reccommend any faux seats cus they are comfortable and still look good. its just like using a fake mugen **** or fake spoon wheels(rotas ) so go that route!

I have both a Silver CF VIS racing seat and a Sparco reclineable. The Sparco I got a deal on as it was a disply model in a shop that didnt get a lot of cross traffic. So it was pretty damn clean.

The CF was kinda harsh for everyday driving, esp with stiff suspension, but the good thing is you can always buy foam and pad the seat however you want since in has a removeable cover, and that is what i plan to do later.

The Sparco was way more comfortable for everyday driving but i did like the VIS fixed back for more aggresive driving.

He bought them right then and there, of course.Sweetest deal...lucky SOB.

I currently have a set of Sparco Torinos. They are an all around great seat! They are very durable, hold you very nicely, fully reclineable, and very comfortable.

i have the f1spec type 3 seat (recaro spg copy). its an okay seat. the seat squeaks some. the black is fading some on the left shoulder area (DD crx). you get what you pay for basically. i got the seat from f1spec (went to their store) and got it for a little less then 200. so i think worth it (i got it for the lower ride height). although i was also talking with the memory fab rep. theirs is memory foam, probably much more comfy then my seat. but also twice as much.

I got 5th gen Prelude seats in my EG, and I love them. I bought 'em off craigslist for 50 bones and bolted right up to my rails.

The only problem with buying seats online is..........You have no clue as to how well your going to fit in them. Everybody is built differently. A lot of these seats they design are for slim people to tell you the truth. Sparco has a seat that is for larger (normal) people, hell if I can remember the name of the seat though.

If you have the opportunity go to your next local autox race and ask people nicely if you can seat in their custom seats. Most people could care less and will let you. The larger the event the more choices you will have to pick from. Thats how I found out what seats I needed to buy...
