my car sounds like it had a 2step
alright so i did a complete tune up and my car is running perfectly fine...the problem is that my car sounds like a 2step when shifting...i have no clue what it could be...i was told change spark plugs...but i already have new spark plugs...i got new msd cap, msd rotor and msd wires and blaster 2 coil and ngk v power spark plugs...so i have no idea what else could be the problem
2 step is when the car is not moving you can floor it and it will redline at what ever rpm you specify
like my 2step is set for 3500 rpm but as soon as i start moving it brings redline back up to 8k

ookkaayyy thank you for answering my problem....but yea found out what it was...i got a CEL today lik an hour ago and i checked it and its a p0420 which means its my catalytic converter or my o2 behind the cat
i had the same problem that ur having.. i had oil in my spark plug holes cause the rubber O-RINGS WERE BAD. so i threw in some gasket sealer. it stoped for about a month but now it's happening again. my cel code is throwing a crank position sensor and it's a obd1 ls ecu but the swap is a 01 LS so it's thrown the code for something totally different. cause i check the CPS.
i know that **** sucks but ill b iight luckily my mechanic is half a block away lol but ill try and see what it is because i was having a missfire in my 4th cylinder last week and it was because i wasnt getting contact with the rotor and the 4th cylinder pin in the cap so i changed it and now i got this p0420 code which culd be gas or oil in my spark plug so ill try and find out 2mrw what the problem is but peoples guesses are welcomed too so keep it on top

there is another thing called 2step that turbo people use. something with retarding the timing to make more pressure in the manifold to spool up the turbo for launches. it sounds like somone throughing hand grenades in your motor. Don't know all about it so if thats not all corect someone chime in.

thats what i call anti-lag im sure there's a more specific name for it...all that does is help the turbo build boost before you launch, basically the same thing as a 2step

it could be a bad coil but unlikely, or timing is messed up <- most likely. check you timing with a timing light.
