Default RSX-S Speakers

My speaker on the front driver side gave out on me... I want to replace the two front ones, but since its a bose system they told me i need speakers that are amplified is that true? If not what are some good speakers I could use to replace the front ones... I just know that they are 6 1/2

all speakers need to be amplified if you want sounds to come from them. i am guessing you are just using the internal head unit amplifier. you can get almost any 6 1/2 size speaker and put them in. go to crutchfield.com search for car speakers and put in your car make/model and it will tell you if the speakers fit or not.

also you can post this in the Audio/Security forum if you need more help.

You would need to get new factory Bose ones from acura. Swapping the front to after market won't work, because everything is coming from the amp, not the radio. It'll sound like ****. All of the speakers are amplified. So see if anyones selling their bose setups or just take it all out including the radio and get an aftermarket system, you're better off that way.

The bose system will only work with bose components. so if u have to change a speaker you have to change it with a bose speaker from the dealer ....otherwise you will have to buy a new head unit and bypass the amp that the bose system ran on. Bestbuy charges extra to do this cuz from wat i was told it was a pain in the ***. So really u might as well go with an aftermarket headunit ,speakers and amp. IMO its the only way to go.

lol yessir, I was a Roadshop installer at Circuit City for 2 years

Bypassing the bose amp is pretty simple, just time consuming and I work at Nissan Part time in the Parts Dept. Nissan also has Bose systems and the cost of one damn speaker is rediculous. So I say, sell the bose crap and get yourself a nice setup within your bugdet

your an idiot. I just replaced my rear speakers today with ones out of my ep3 and they work.

These people do not know what they are talking about. I don't care if they were an installer for whome ever because I have sent many friends in there to buy certain things and those morons send them back with the complete opposite thing they went there for because they feel it is correct.

Anyways, if you are installing an aftermarket cd player you have to get an amp bypass harness. Truely you can just make you own as I did for the mustang I installed a mild stereo in since they forgot to order one.

As far as using stock components to amplify aftermarket speaker. Of course they aren't going to sound as good as they would if they were being powered from an amp. The amp will give them more power which will allow them to run at there rms in return giving out better sound.

The bose sound system in the rsx is complete garbage. Well not entirly. Actually it is. The sub sucks, the speakers are cheaper than ****. I stuck with the stock cd player and went with some CDT speakers. Helped out a lot. If you need more "bump" you can do the switch of the wire of the sub. There is a DIY on crsx about that. I have not done it as I really am not into the loud music big bang thing. You can also swap out the little bose sub in your trunk with another one of equal size and use an aftermarket amp.
