Default Valve cover vents - What's the best way to measure exactly?

As the title says, I need to drill holes, but don't like guessing. Is there a trick to find the center on each side? Everything's curved, and it's tough to measure. I know if it's off I'll be the only one who notices it, but it will still bother me, lol.

Use a square either off the valve cover it self or work off of a table top.

Here is a pic of my 2 valve covers I just tried to find the flattest place possible and behind the the windage tray or splash guard whatever is called and be careful not to drill too far that tray is very thin.

Thanks for the replies, but the drilling is the easy part. Did you guys just eye things up or measure?

I put it were it was not in the way of anything that would give me trouble try to keep it away from heat, and were it looks good,

I did not measure just were it makes the most sense

Thanks, man. I just suck at eyeing things up. I was hoping there was a trick.
