question about REAR DISK BRAKE CONV. for EK!!
Hey guys, I have a quick question..
I bought a set of rear disk brakes for my EK. It comes w/ pretty much everything, cables and all.. the question i have is.. I was icbmotorsport.com and they were selling something called a Proportionating Valve. It was supposed to supply brake fluid to the rear disks correctly when you do a rear disk brake or full disk brake swap. here's the link:

If anyone knows what that is, or if i need it or not. can you please let me know.. thanks guys!!

Having rear disks allows your car to increase rear brake bias slightly and thus increase braking power.
Yes, you'll want to get a prop valve from a 99-00 ex/si or something of the equivalent.
it's not 100% necessary, but you'll brake better that way.

It is not required. I ran a rear disk conversion for like 6 months with the stock prop valve, and the brake feel felt normal.
However, if you have a 96-00 hatch, then you will have the same prop valve as the Si.

so i won't have to buy a prop valve, just have the brake lines run up to it??

The prop valve is in your engine bay. Just do the brake swap and connect the brake lines in the wheel wells. Then after everything is installed bleed the system. If you think the pedal is still to soft you can go ahead and swap the brake master and prop valve. I never swaped the prop valve or brake master on my car yet and the pedal is a little softer but the car stops alot better.

the brake swap says it comes w/ brake lines and e-brake cable. should i use those, or use the ones that were on my car already??

If the ones you have now work use them. I think you have to swap e-brake cables though because the drum cables attach diffrent then disc.
you are gonna have to change the first part of the brake line up to the first connector (10mm) and the e-brake cables
As long as I dont have to take out any more Metal Gears

Ya if u just swap out the rear drums to discs, u will notice that it brakes better, even without a new prop valve. Just make sure u bleed the system very well. On my EK sedan, I swapped out my old brake setup to a 00 integra setup. I didnt change the prop or master cylinder for a while and braked ok. When I changed the prop, the pedal feel definitely got better and braked significantly better as well. Then later I swaped out my 13/16 master cylinder for a 7/8 one from a civic EX and that made the car brake even better and made the pedal feel stiffer, and now its perfect for me. So in short, you can upgrade the parts at your leisure. The prop and the master are not really necessary, but it will make the brakes better.
if your "ek" is a 96-00 hatchback then you already have the same 40/40 prop valve that comes on the 99-00 civic si with the rear disc. Swapping it out would waste your time and money. Good luck.

Sohfast.com sells complete rear conversions.
I recommend getting them from a junkyard if you have a good one local.
Otherwise search the classifieds here and craigslist for a conversion.
