Any other symptoms? It just all of the sudden would not go into gear? Is it grinding if you try and force it? can you turn off the car and go through the gears?
I had the same symptoms, and the problem was that the pressure plate exploded and pieces of it were jamming everything up. It would go into gear for a few days and then it would not work for a couple days.
I finally just gave the shop permission to open it up and take a look cuz they were stumped too.
All better now.
HTH.

Do all of the adjustments that are humanly possible and if that fails, jack the car up and get to work.
then... get back to us. You will never learn unless you get your hands dirty

exactly, you'll probab;y have to pull the tranny and put in a new clutch but again you'll only know if you tear it down.

i am having same issue right now on a del sol si. i brought the car into a exhaust shop to weld the one of the shifter linkage onto the body (the bracket was missing and previous owner cuted a big hole, so the only way to secure it is to weld it). after the welder done the job, now it wont shift into gear while the engine is running. also, it is making some weird noise. what could be the issue?
have you tried adjusting the nut on the clutch cable?? tighten it up, that might help, ive had this problem before. ive been stuck at lights because of **** like this. try that out and see how it goes!
I have the same problem but mine is a d-series. I just replaced the clutch and the flywheel was resurfaced. Everyone is stumped and I have no clue of what to do next.... Please post what the problem was when you figure it out.

Sounds like a clutch problem to me. Try this, put your car in 1st gear with it off and start the car. Does it want to learch forward at all? If so it is your clutch for sure.
