Default 89 crx si d16y7 swap

I am aquiring an 89 si with a d16y7 already in it. the person who did the swap didn't seem to do everything needed it doesn't seem. it's a 99 dx motor. it has the pm6 ecu. what all do i need to do to swap it over the the p2e? its having idle issues right now. and error code on the iac. the motor revs up and down at idle after warming up a little bit. from what i search and find it is maybe because that ecu isn't made for that motor? i plan to in the future put a y8 head and everything on it. what is the easiest way to get ti running smooth right now? i know the p2e and p2p are obd2 ecus and understand that requires some work but not exactly sure what. any help is welcome thanks in advance.

I'm not new to cars just hondas. I've played with dsm's for years.

The y7 can be run by the pm6 just fine, especially if they used just the bare head/block and everything else from the stock D16a6.

But given your symptoms, they probably effed something up.

Forget the obd2 stuff. Look into an obd-1 p28 ecu for vtec needs.

so what i need to fix it now is the stock si intake and tb do i need injectors and what not too? the intake and throttle body i don't believe are for the si. as far as the p28 what do i need to get to make that work? what harness do i need to look for? use the y8 intake and tb for the p28? thanks for the info.

If you use stock si intake, tb, ecu, etc you are basically just replacing the head/block which are very very similar to the old D16a6. Just pretend you still have the a6.

You have a choice on injectors. You can use obd-0 injectors if they are hooked up to the old Si injector resistor box. You can use obd-1 or 2 if you bypass the injector resistor box(or the inj resistor box has been removed)

To get a p28 ecu, you need to do an obd-0 to obd-1 conversion. Its been documented here repeatedly. Basically need:
p28 ecu
obd-0 to obd-1 conversion harness (Boomslang, Rywire etc)
obd-1 distributor ( think you can convert an obd-2 to work, but verify)
4 wire o2 sensor

You can retrofit to the y8 intake manifold at any point in this project. It physically bolts to any of the heads you've been discussing. There is a difference in auto and manual versions(you want manual).
Whichever head and engine management version you're using will require slightly different details...ie: the obd-0 IAT sensor doesn't have a place to bolt to the manifold, requiring you stick it someplace in the intake tract.

My suggestions at this point:
