Default 89 crx si mini me swap help?

ok so i have a 91 crx si with the stock d16a6 in it
it overheated and blew the head gasket.
the head dident seem to be in the greatest shape
and there was coolent mixed in the oil everywhere
so i took the motor out rebuilt the bottom end to
clean it all up and decided to trash the head and go with a z6.
now here come the questions
i keep looking stuff up but only find genralized answers.
ok i bolted on the z6 head to the a6 block a couple hours
ago and now i need to know.
i heard about hooking up the vtec with one wire

well i think i'm going to do this until i can afford the other ECU
(couple weeks) but "how do i do this?"

also is there ANY way i can get the distributor off the stock a6
to work with the z6?
i heard that you can get it to "mount" but what about wiring
will it still work?

and i may have a couple more questions but i have to think about it and see what happens heres a few pics of where i started to where im at now thanks and anything will help answers or links

after the a6 head is off

z6 head with a6 intake mani

z6 sitting on top

head bolts down and header back on

it seems to sit alot higher than the stock head ??

stock dizzy doesent match at all

green = ? and grey = vtec wire

What ecu will you be using? To use the D16A6 distributor on a Z6 head, you will need to cut the front mounting leg off of the dizzy, and enlarge the bolt hole on the top mounting hole. The green plug is the VTEC oil pressure sensor and the grey is the VTEC solenoid plug.

i will be using whatever the stock ecu is for a 89 crx si.
if i cut the tabs and everything to bolt the dizzy up right than i know i can get it to bolt on "but" will it still work wiring wise?
do you know exactly how to one wire the vtec or oil pressure or dizzy up to my stock ecu?
thats what i cant find out
thanks

Pertaining to this thread-can you chip the pm6 to run vtec? I am getting conflicting answers thru my searches.

ok i do know that all i need to do is buy the p28 ecu, z6 dizzy and obd0 to obd1 wire conversion harness. BUT what i am trying to ask is there ANY way i can get my car up and running without those. i have stock 89 si ecu and a6 dizzy. i found some write ups saying that the dizzy will work with some cutting and fixing the tabs. but is the wiring ok?
and is there a way i can "one wire" up the vtec? or should i just wait for the vtec til i get a p28 ecu?
but the big question is with the stock stuff i have can i get the car running?
i have no daily driver and need to get it running with no cash if possible
thanks

you can run it. i just bought a 91 civici si with a d16z6 running on the a6 distributor and pm6. no vtec though. I would wait for vtec since the fuel wouldn't be right with the pm6. the distributor is flipped on its side with one leg cut off and another enlarged.

you don't need to change any wiring at the dizzy if your using your pm6.just need to cut off the one leg on the dizzy and enlarge a bolt hole. I will try to get pics up tomorrow.

you can run 1 wire vtec with 90-91 pm6 ecu's, but not 88-89 pm6 without a ton of modification. so either way you are going to need a new ecu to run vtec, unless you are a soldering ninja.

your car will run just fine with the a6 distributor and your current pm6 ecu, it just wont have vtec. if you want vtec, do it the right way and do the p28 ecu with z6 distributor, or buy a pre chipped 1 wire vtec 90-91 pm6. obd1 is far superior to obd0 at this point, so the best bang for your buck would be the p28 option.

fwiw:
it seems to me that the a6 distributor will work on the obd1 setup however.. i dont think you need a new z6 distributor. the z6 distributor has all the same sensors that the a6 one does, so as long as the conversion harness is done right, i dont think youll need a new distributor as long as you are confortable running on 2 posts instead of 3. i personnaly wouldnt be able to sleep at night running only 2 posts.. but.. somebody should vouch for this last paragraph for accuracy.

no the A6 distributor won't work with the OBD1 ECU you are going to need a Z6 distributor
