check engine light on in a 96 civic
i have a 96 civic ex and i just put a header, downpipe and cat back exhaust with a cold air intake. i have the factory cat in. i repelaced the 02 sensor in the header and i am still having a check engine light on. i got a my car tested and it said the 02 sensor in the header is bad but i just put a brand new one in. i dont know what i can do. is it because of the air flow that is going through the header and the computer is not reading it? is there a solutuion? if anyone can help me i would appreciate it.

there are a couple of questions to ask you here.
1. what type of o2 sensor did you put? is it a universal one or the exact one for your car?
2. after installing the o2 sensor, did you reset the ecu?

Was it a universal O2 sensor (that you had to wire) or was it factory/factory replica (plug & play).

almost happened to me..had to tell my mechanic (that i absolutely no longer use or will ever go to again) that there is a sensor on the header and on the CAT.

so then you should pay the place that sold you the sensor a visit..if you still have receipt tell them and even have the mechanic sign a failed emissions test or something due to a bad sensor. and ask if they will get you a new one.
ya i the only problem is the place i got it from is in florida. so i am going to send it back get a refund. i am going to buy the honda oem one. but can i buy somehting that bypasses the computer or put in a obd1 computer in my car?
