Default a/f meter needed for n/a?

I've converted my EF to obd-1, and I'm going to be using a chipped p28. Do any of you guys run a/f meters in the car for tuning, or do you just use one when you tune the car on a dyno? I bought an a/f meter to use, but I'm thinking maybe I should just sell it.

I just had it tuned on a dyno, I don't need to know what it is while I'm driving.

Wouldn't it be good to have it anyway. If the ratio starts to go too rich or too lean wouldn't this be indication that something is failing?

That's what I'm thinking. I'll be using chrome to tune. Half of me says once it's tuned it's done. The other half agrees with you, that it is just another way to monitor the engine.

Its never a bad idea to have one mounted in the car permanet. Esp. if you plan on having alot done ie: wild cams and/or really comp. pistons

Im currently using the PLX m300 for datalogging use on my s300. My car is an NA B20Vtec and I have it for the simple fact that I dont trust any tuner and also if something does go wrong you will be able to see it. Just an example would be if you had a leaking injector that was dumping fuel into one of the cylinders. Real quick that cylinder will be toast from the fuel washing out the oil on the cylinder wall. IMO.

it's never a bad thing to know your A/F ratio, saved a few of my motors before from blowing up being too lean in boost.

Defintely a great idea. My B20 in my sig blew up becuase of a bad fuel pressure regulator. It went lean and I didnt know. Now I have an A/F gauge. I monitor that gauge more than an other gauge I have. Except speed maybe.

yes and no. i'm not a fan of having gauges and gadgets mounted in plain sight. i can drive with the glove box open for tuning.

Those a/f guages arent very accurate.. You need a wideband o2 sensor and guage and mount it somewhere easily visible.
