Default shifter problem

i have a 88 hatch and i changed the shifter cause previous owner cut it to make it like a short shifter and i have a stock shifter from a 92 civic i put in.once i put everything back together i notice my shifter was leaning to the left alot,so i try put it all gears everything exept for 5th n reverse was hard.to get into 5th i would have to really use sum muscle to get it in there and also reverse i check out my linkage and all seems to be straight.what could be the problem?

I have the same problem with whover owned the car before me, they cut the ****, um as for your shifter, I would look under again, and make sure that everything is connected to spec, and have someone else with you to sit in or hold the shifter str8 when u retighten everything again, sometimes when you tighten the shifter it can be off center and you won't knotice until your done, also what kind of bushings are you using?
