Also make sure you have a sufficient run way if it's taking you too long to get up to speed

why is everyone on tis forum such an *** to people asking legit questions. its redicilous. it seems to me that the members of this forum are the most intelligent, but instead of helping people, its just flaming. constantly. sometimes its necessary, but not right now.
yeah but its funny. well the thing about launching faster is all in manual.(sorry) you could try neutral dropping it(where you rev high on neutral and drop in drive) but expect to expletive up your tranny again. or hold your brakes down on drive gear and rev high at the same time and let go of your breaks.

If it's a sport shift tranny then its not as bad at least you can shift when you want. I have a 98 lude with the sport **** and it doesn't "take off" either, but once it gets going its a fun car to drive. Still its not a tranny for the strip.

Automatics are actually the preferred way for drag built cars. BUT, not Honda autos.
If you want to spend a few bucks, get an aftermarket torque converter with a higher stall speed. The stock transmission probably stalls around 3k when brake revving. (hold down brake pedal, floor throttle) A higher stall speed will let you launch at a higher rpm where your powerband is greater, say 4.5k.
Level Ten might have what you're looking for.

We need to know what year your car is to be able to help at all. Although, an auto Honda is going to be slow off the line anyway. I got a friend ran 11.7 in the 1/8 in his SS 5g and my H23 4g ran 9.9, manual tranny, and we all know the H22 has considerably more power than the H23.
