cotter pins are suppose to be there holding the shifter cables in place. paper clips can and will break due to the heat inside the engine bay. go to auto zone and buy a pack of cotter pins. its like no more then 2 bucks for an assorted pack

hmmm i have clips on my axles and such never had a problem. so cotter pins have higher heat tolerence?

im not a scientist or anything.. everything has a reason bro. im pretty sure the aluminum or whatever its made out of is different. i dont know, if honda wanted "paper clips" to hold in the shifter cables in, they would of done it.
