how to close off hole for h22 shifter in civic?
When swapping the h22 into my civic i obviously had to enlarge the original shifter hole and cut a hole to run the cables.
i have the rubber piece with the cables pulled up fairly snug to that hole, but its not as covered as id like it to be. for that i was planning on using some of that spray can expanding foam that you can pick up at a hardware store.
as for the shifter though, i have the mechanics of the shifter that need to remain unobstructed! did anybody come up with a good way of closing off this area similar to the nice stock civic shifter that is completely closed off? Im going for a hardcore sound deadening job on my car and the shifter hole has me stumped as of now.

That's what I did. It seals it up nicely.

I don't know what you mean. Everything is sealed off w/ the foam ****.

well the shifter itself has to have full movement, along with the mechanics that sit below the shifter underneath the car where the cables connect. i would think if you used the spray foam in this area, it would just break apart as you shift, and maybe even gunk up the shifter itself and restrain full function. for now i just have civic shift boot back over it all, but the fact that there is still a couple inches of open air down there where the shifter protrudes through is bothering me.

for the shifter i used a thin sheet of aluminum and screwed some screws to hold it in place. for the cable i used heater hoses that i sliced up to make a sheet
.
i went over the sides and gaps with clear silcone sealant

thanks! good call! im going to just way oversize the sheetmetal, like the full width of the bay under the car and lengh going a few inches longer than the size of the shifter on each side so it lays nice and flat wiht a couple screws, then silicon the hell out of all sides and completely seal it off. interference free. or maybe a little box with the sheet metal to keep it clear from rubbing from the shifter mechanics at all, with tabs to screw it in on the two sides at the rear an front side of the car, keeping pass and driver side flush with the bay.
