got a 4 door
I just got a 88 dx 4 door with a blown motor for 150.00, and i also bought a complete motor from a 98 dx hatchback for 220.00. I was wondering if I could use the 88 cable tranny on my new motor. I searched and I saw people using hydro trannies on cable tranny motors, so I wanted to make sure I could do the same.
you need to use the clutch for the right tranny
the cable tranny has different teeth then the hydro on the mainshaft i believe
and also to use hydro tranny you need the adapter by hasport idk if anyone else makes it
EDIT my bad if its a d series motor then im pritty sure you can

yeah, its a d16y7. So I should be able to use my 88 tranny right? I've been searching all day, this is my first civic(not first honda tho) and gonna be my first motor swap. I want to make sure i understand everything. When i get my motor in, do i still have to convert to mpfi, and if i do, do i convert everything on the motor to obd1 i.e. distributor, injectors, intake manifold? Back to searching
if your using a cable tranny with that motor. just get a 90-91 fly wheel and clutch. i could be wrong but i think the 88-89 tranny have a differnt spline count on the clutch disk.
