Default Air conditioning....

Can someone please explain to me why my car runs like crap when I turn on my AC? I have a 92 accord dx... It seems to hav alot less power and does not shift gears right....

Well you are enabling the AC system so more power is going to be directed towards that.

It just kinda happens.

I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT I HAD TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND IAC OUT, BG THROTTLE BODY CLEANER IS THE BEST STUFF TO GET. EVEN HAS THE INSTRUCTIONS TO DO WHAT I SAID.

so there is nothing wrong with my car even tho it shifts funnny and shakes uncontrollably sometimes? this is normal?

Not saying there's not anything wrong, but it's just kinda agreed upon it's going to feel a bit more sluggish with AC on

When was the last time you had a tune up?
When was the last time the tranny fluid was changed?
How close are you to having the major services done?
AC compressor gunked up? maybe

Stuff like that.

i am actually gettin my timing belt and water pump replaced next week. will that help?

I've had A/C serviced. Replaced compressor oil and refrigerant made it run much smoother. COOL guy says most places don't put in enough oil and your compressor eventually dries out and goes. Might explain the rough running.

if the car is in proper running order, evacuate the ac system and recharge with proper amt of oil and r12 if you have not coverted it to r134a. usr r134a if you had it converted.
