Default MSD External Coil Versus Stock Distributor CAp and Rotor

I have done mulitple searches and really found nothing. I'm looking into replacing my stock distributor cap and rotor, but my philosophy is why spend the money on regular things when I can have something better for a little bit more. I looking for the full MSD external box, more like just the regular external coil replacement.

Is it worth it? Or should I just save the extra money and get the OEM one?

I would stick to stock unless you are at an output level where you really will see a difference over stock. I say go MSD if you are doing launch control or adding a rev-limiter that pulls spark. If this kit doesn't offer it - its debatable wether adding
this peice will really do much more than fresh stock components would.

Thanx, I'm really not pushing much power. JUst a couple of regular mods. I will probably just stick with OEM... Thank You. Also would you choose iridium spark plugs or platinum. I've heard the pros and cons of each, therefore I'm still deciding and still want more info

I've run the external MSD coil system similar to the one shown for years without any problems at all.

FWIW, the stock ignition systems are good for like 350hp in preludes, I don't know if you guys' civic stuff is any different, but there is absolutely no difference until you hit that mark in a lude.

I went with an external coil because my stock coil died and it costs like $100 from the dealer and I just dont trust those parts from Kragen and Pepboys. Just bought a MSD external coil for $30. Done cheap fix.

im runnin pretty close to the same setup, full msd. i barely noticed difference. its an auto and the msd made it shift smoother, that was honestly the biggest difference. im sure it will help aftera certain point but on a close to stock motor it wont make much difference. also make sure you get the right distributor cap if you peice it together. plus it was a PITA to install, to me at least.
