Default throttle body cable???

so my friend said that if you tighten the cable on your throttle body you can get better throttle response. he owns a scion but knows his cars but im hesitant to start messing with it. has anyone else heard this or done this in the past? i would think that it would jus give me a higher idol but he says otherwise any help would be great!

It won't give you any better throttle response, nor will it raise your idle (as long as you do it right). What it'll do is take the slack out, so as soon as you step on the pedal, you open the throttle body. The reason for the slack is so that you don't have a sudden jerk one you put your foot to the gas. I did it on my car... I like it. Just don't make it so tight that it leaves the throttle open without any pressure on the gas pedal.
