Default drum brake

does anybody have a 'how to' on changing drum brakes springs? one of my springs in the brake snapped, and was wondering if there are any 'how to' on fixing it. im planning on to do it myself.

just use needle nose pliers (vice grip kind if u have them) and look at the non-broken side for reference... its pretty easy

thanks. i know that too. but i just want to know the names of the parts. becuz i have some broken parts in the drum and want to know the names so that i can goto nearby hardware store to get it replaced.

You should be able to go buy a hardware kit that has everything (spings, clips, pins, etc) except the wheel cylinder, shoes, and whatever the large arms that make the shoes go out are called.

if you can pick up ANY civic service manual, haynes, chiltons, or preferably helms, all the parts will be listed and labeled.

well im getting kind of tired of the drums. i want to get rid of them. how hard is it to convert it to disc?

Not hard at all.
You need the correct trailing arms (look this up as there are many differing opinions on what is correct). You'll also need non-crx disc brake cables for the e brake. Be careful removing the bolt that holds the comp arm at the front of the trailing arm. If you're removing it from your car, you risk popping the nut that is impossible to reach off inside the space under your seats. The only fix is to cut a hole in the floor. You'll see what I mean when you start.

You'll need an alignment afterward.
