Default b20z swap in 94 ls?

hey my timing belt just broke on the ls in my car and now i'm looking at buying either a b20z or a b16, i don't know which b16 i would need so i'm not sure i could afford it. Either way, if i buy a b20z to put in my integra does it just drop in? are there any differences or parts that i wouldn't already have that i need? My last car was an ef and when i did a swap i needed parts from 10 different cars lol. Anyways, please let me know what i'm getting into. thanks

Complete bolt up. It's basically just a bigger bore LS. Use the LS head on the B20 with a B20 headgasket and use your LS crank pulley.

what would be the advantages of doing this over just swapping over my im and other things onto the b20 longblock?

Im in the middle of doing this swap myself. Your going to need to switch over the OBD1 alternator, dizzy, IM and LS crank pulley.

Most B20s have the identical P75 head and cams that a Integra LS has. There is a very rare B20 P8R head that has larger valves.

Keep in mind that just because the motor is a B20Z it doesn't mean its a high compression version. There are lower compression B20Zs. Mine is a B20Z2 with high compression pistons. Check for knock sensor on the back of the engine block. Either version will give you a tad bit more torque than your LS motor.

B18B1
* Non-VTEC
* Found in:
o 1994-2001 Acura Integra "RS/LS/GS" (DC4/DB7)
+ Displacement: 1834 cc
+ Compression: 9.2:1
+ Bore: 81 mm
+ Stroke: 89 mm
+ Power: # 142 hp @ 6300 rpm & 127 ft·lbf @ 5200 rpm

B20B
* NON-VTEC
* Found in: Honda CR-V, Honda Orthia
* Displacement: 1973
* Power: 126hp @ 5500rpm
* Torque: 133 ft @ 4200 rpm
* Compression: 8.8:1
* Bore: 84 mm
* Stroke: 89 mm
* Redline: 6300 rpm red line

Some B20Z
* NON-VTEC
* Found in: 1999-2001 Honda CR-V
* Displacement: 1973
* Power: 142 hp @ 5500 rpm
* Torque: 133@ 4500 rpm
* Compression: 9.6:1
* Bore: 84 mm
* Stroke: 89 mm
* Redline: 6900 rpm

Pssst: Its a p8r head and it has vtec sized valves. Really hard to find though. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by killacam661 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> whats that good for?</TD></TR></TABLE>

I was wondering the same thing.

I have the P8R head sitting at my house from the JDM B20B that I swapped into my DA, I did'nt use it though because it sucks compared to the PR4 and P75(and I put a ported head on anyways). All the B20Z's are the high compression ones as they are the 99-00 USDM CR-V engines. It's the JDM ones that are all B20B's and you can't differentate between the high and low compression ones except to look at the head, which thier was another JDM car that was equipped with the B20 also but only the CR-V had the P8R head for the 96-98 years.

It's not the valves that are bigger on the P8R head, but the diameter of the valve stem that is different. If it is a B18A1 head that you have from your LS then the exhaust cam lobes on that head are smaller than the B20 or any B18B's, therefore you would want to use the B20 exhaust cam.

The point is to make sure you use the better head if he did have the P8R and because he knows that his LS head is in good working condition and the crank pulley because sometimes its different. Like on my DA the belt for the P/S is a v-belt but the B20 crank was a regular grooved belt one. And the B20 head gasket will be the only one to fit the 84 mm bore of the cylinders.
