i know its a Y8 but vtec doesnt hit like u cant hear it or anything and from my understanding when you rev up in neutral it stops at the rpm that vtec kicks in

well...since it's a d16y8 vtec isn't going to be that noticeable. you can hear it if you listen closely and have an aftermarket intake but it's not gonna jump out at you. why are you reving it up to 5700 or whatever it is for a y8 in neutral anyways?

Wow, your understanding is totally fucked up.
Whoever told you that should have their dick chopped off.
NO, the car will NOT 2 step hold at 4800 RPM in neutral, it will go all the way to the rev limiter at 7200 RPM or whatever it is.
You don't feel VTEC hit in a Y8, you might here a sound pitch change if you have a loud exhaust, that's about it.

If it's not throwing a check engine light around 5 grand when you're on it hard check the VTEC oil screen - it's behind the VTEC solenoid, see if it's clogged.
If it's not clogged, check your oil pressure.
If your oil pressure is okay, the screen is not clogged, and you're not throwing any CEL's, then there's no issues, it's engaging fine.

I"m almost willing to bet money that it's engaging 100% and you just expect it to throw you back into your seat or some crap like that. You WILL NOT FEEL IT, AT ALL.

Check what check engine light code it's throwing.

well 1st off, that sounds like your talking about a 2 step feature which has to be tuned/burned into the ECU (correct me if im wrong). Secondly, VTEC will never activate in neutral. The car has to be at operating temp, moving, at the right rpm, and of course have the correct oil pressure. If its a stock motor than your vtec should be fine.
