Default 2006 Civic LX: does the Trunk Release work from the remote / keyfob?

Hi Guys,

So we bought a Civic LX sedan but the dealer didnt have the master key with the buttons on it. So we went to another dealer to have a Master key cut and programmed. The Lock/Unlock buttons works fine, but the Trunk Release button will not open the trunk. I do hear some clicking sound under the steering wheel when the Trunk Release button is pressed. So I thought maybe somehting is broken.

Interestingly, another friend also has a LX (Coupe, bought brand new). Now, her key does not even have the trunk release button on it....

So I am wondering, does the LX models support the Trunk Release from the keyfob? Maybe the dealer just gave us the key with 3 buttons but only 2 are suppose to work.

Thanks,
JT

The LX does not have the electronic trunk release. Only the EX/SI does.

It probably can. You need an electronic solenoid that will yank on the cable.
