Default ls motor in gsr shell?

Hi I have a wrecked 96 LS but it's only body/frame damage, everything works fine still, and still drivable

but say I have a 95 gsr shell, with everything but the motor/transmission.. the only electrical change would be the just ECU right?

Basically I'm wondering if I'd have to change wiring and other things.. the only thing I'd be changing is putting 96 engine swap, changing ECU and changing my gauge.. no harness or electricals needed right? Thanks..

As long as you take the DOHC VTEC badge off the back, your good.

How would it pass with smog? Since the standards for the gsr would be higher.. Once I put the LS motor in the gsr shell, it'd be classified as a gsr right? Would I have to BAR it? Or..? Thanks

everything will work fine! you should pass smog with out any problem! Just change the ecu to a OBD1 ls

smog shouldnt be a big deal but yes even though you have an LS its still classified as a gsr. youre still paying insurance for a gsr when you have an LS too.

UMM, UR 96 SHOULD BE 0BD2 AND UR 95 IS 0BD1. I THINK YOU WOULD HAVE TO GET A LOT OF JUMPERS TO DO THAT. I MIGHT BE WRONG THO. GOODLUCK

yeah man if you want to put that obd2a LS engine in an obd 1 gsr shell you'll have to either get an obd1 LS ECU and on obd1 Distributor. or get one of those complicated converters for the distributor and the ECU. because the pinouts on the ECU and the distributor plug would be completely different.

Or you can just buy an obd2 harness and put it in your GSR but I think that would be a pain putting in an entire obd2 harness.

i remember someone telling me this from a state ref while BAR'ing his car, that you cannot use jumper harness on the car. when you plug up the car to the obd reader, it will act all funny and messes with the reading and they will noticed that you are using the jumper harness which is an instant failure.

no jumpers need. the obd2 engine harness will plug in and work perfectly for a obd1 chassis harness. you will just have a few plugs laying around. All you need is a OBD1 LS ECU.

Also even if you needed a jumper and you really wanted to run the OBD2 ECU, there is no 'plug' for the OBD reader for the ref to check in a 1995 LS..
