Bad 1/4 mile times due to bad compression
Ok last night I went to the drags and did horrible with better tires. Two weeks ago I was runiing all over the 15 second range with street tires, then last night I went with my RA-1s and had better reaction times and 60 foot times but worse trap speeds and running low 16's. I didnt know what the deal was until I did a compression test and my readings were 165, 170, 135, 165. I then did a wet compression test on cylinder 3 and it was 200, then did a wet test on the others and they were all 200 so that confirms my piston rings are pretty much done. I currently have a b16a with USDM ITR pistons and the block was bored .20 over for the ITR's but my question is which piston should I use on the next rebuild. I searched and wasn't sure, but I have CTR's in mind because they are .25 over and could maybe do that but would the CR be ridiculous for pump gas. I was also looking at JDM ITR (P73) pistons but need to know if they are bigger than the USDM ITR pistons and if that had a more friendly CR for pump gas. I think if I rebuild this block it would cost me less than say doing and LSVTEC because I can do the boring and such where I work and can't really just buy a new engine at the moment. So right now I'm looking at the best cost effective rebuild given my situation.
I have considered it but not sure if I should just bore it since I'll be to that stage. I don't want to be unprepared when I do this next rebuild and I have to have it apart for as little time as possible since this is my daily driver and I'm always busy with school and work.
