Default compression test results!

I just did a compression test in my gsr with some ctr pistons and the results is:

Piston one:
260 psi first time
265 psi second time

Piston two:
265 psi first time
265 psi second time

Piston three:
275 psi first time
280 psi second time

Piston four:
280 psi first time
280 psi second time

well i got good compression but the last two piston worry me... i read a fourm about doing a compression test and they said if they vary from +-20 its ok and mine came out to 15psi different from the other two... What u honda ppl think?

fixed the order of the pistons lol!

I think thats just fine, little strange how it goes down from cyl. 1, but i dont think its much to be worried about, if 50 off yes but 15 no.

Piston 1 is at the drivers motor mount or cam gear. Does sound like you might want rings though .

What color of smoke do you see? Did you also do a leakdown? If not you should. Could be head gasket related, but that's just speculation.

naa havent done a leakdown test dont really know how and if it was the head gasket it would over heat... what im wondering if its just in need of tune? but if i get more info and what stuff i need to buy i will do a leakdown test! asap!

if you see a cloud you should be able to discern the color of the cloud.

It doesn't have to be overheating to have a bad gasket. Check under your oil cap to see if it's kinda milky. You can check the overflow tank for any milky discolor to the coolant. If you see a milkish color etc your gasket might be going bad where it's not sealing the oil correctly.

Here's what you need for a leakdown.

Usually black smoke means you're running rich, blue is usually burning oil, and white is burning coolant or just condensation during the colder months. But if you do have black all over your back bumper and you're probably burning oil. Don't just go ruling that it's the rings now either. It's very likely it could be the valve stem seals too which is a much easier problem to fix than the piston rings. lol Also, those compression numbers seem a little high. Are you sure you're checking compression right? 280 would be pretty damn high compression. Most cars with good compression will test around 160-180 PSI. You're right though, 20 PSI is the maximum variance between cylinders. If you want to tell if it's your rings compression test the car, then put a few squirts of oil down each spark plug hole and compression test again. If the compression goes up a decent amount (usually 10 PSI or more) then the rings are a good possibility.
