Default Tools

I've been sitting on a couple hundred dollars in snap-on gift cards for awhile, but I can't decide on what to get. Between my dad and myself we have pretty extensive collections of hand and power tools.

Is there any tools you guys have that you find really helpful, not just for Hondas, but for any car. Any specialty tools you guys have?

Thanks

That might buy you a nice ratcheting screwdriver set.

Snap-On makes an awesome ratcheting screwdriver (orange handle) that comes with 4 bits in the base; add the Blue-point bit set. Also, they make a lug nut adaptor for air guns, skinny for us wheel owners, for those idiot shops that think everyone runs stocks.

get the buddy club k series valve spring remover. looks like a helpful tool if you ever plan to break down and build a motor.

i believe snap on has or will have a ratchet set with flanks? that will remove/tighten nuts/bolts by using the side of the nut/bolt as opposed to going off the corners, which causes rounding of the heads.

dont hold it against me but my friend was talking about such a device.

i'd check their site though, just to be sure.

buy stuff your father doesnt have, because tools are a good hand-me-down and you dont need doubles of most things. i would suggest a 3/8 ingersol rand impact gun and snap on set of swivel impact sockets. i work at a gm dealer with a tech, and that is probally the most used assembly/dissasembly device. also a nice torque wrench if you plan on doing motors. and a rotational torque meter if you plan on doing differentials. also a dial indicator is a very useful tool if you do brakes at all.

the snap on one is nice. all the bells and whistles. it even beeps and vibrates when you meet the desired amount of torque.

A couple hundred dollars will get you close to that torque wrench. I would use it, but when i'm done it goes right back over the mantle. It is a beauty.
