motor preference
I know theres a lot about what types of motors can be put in a civic and I know it all, dont worry, but I wanted some straight opinions... I'm trying to decide what to swap into my 98 civic hatch, and I have the money for pretty much anything, even a K20.... so guys... is it worth it? or should i stick with a gsr or an itr or something? OPINIONNNNSS, thanks a lot<3

There are a lot of people who would prefer a K20 over any engine on this site, but the main deterrant is that it's not in the financial cards for them. Sure, there's H2b, which is an alternate build of comparable power and whatnot, but the K series swap you'll see is going to become more and more common, because it's the class of engine currently in production, and it has a lot of potential, be it for N/A or F/I applications.
I myself just wanted a D15B VTEC because 1) it was a VTEC swap 2) it was cheap, and that's
for me 3) I don't need that much power for what I do 4) it fit my level of know-how because it was not out of my league to save some money and do it myself.
You need to ask yourself those questions, and more.
-What are my intentions for the car? (street driving, drag racing, auto x)
-What kind of power do I need?
-Is it in my league to do this swap?
-Do I have the money to follow through and not cheap out on essential parts?
I say, if you believe you have the money, start saving and researching for a K20 build. Also, while reading, make sure you take note of your know-how, as the K20 build will come with a little fabrication. So you may need to factor in labor for some of the fabrication, if you know you're not up to it.

jebus -- im just waitin now for the K20 vs B Series swap arguments to start again lol
IMO i would go with a GSR or ITR. for the money of a K-Series swap you could pretty much pick up a used or maybe even a new RSX Type-S. Even though you said money is pretty much not a concern...i'd still go B series cause its alot less of a headache and they still put down decent numbers compared to a K. and for the money of a just a straight K swap you can swap AND build a sick GSR/ITR
GSR/ITR Swap FTW

If you want a naturally aspirated setup, get a b18c5 or h22
If you want to go turbo, get a b18b or b18c1
Just the fact that you're asking a question such as this, makes me think you should stay away from the financial and fabrication problems that a k20 brings.

I'm just letting them know what's up with the K20 build. I mean, why not at least encourage some K swap research if money isn't a problem for them?
