Default New VSS issue... MPH works, vtec only works as soon as you get on it, then quits.

Ok here we go... put an electronic VSS in to my cable trans (eg chassis)

The car will engage in to vtec lets say if you roll in to it in 2nd, but very shortly it stops working and a CEL will come on.

I imagine it might be a code 17, but the MPH still works fine the whole time. I tried to datalogg but was having issues so im going to save the code checking for tomorrow.

Also, the code only comes on when vtec engages.

The vtec speed check has been disabled through crome.

thanks guys.

i'd say check all the pins going to the VSS plug and any wiring you had to do to use the electronic VSS just to make sure something's not loose.

It's probably all fine, but you never know.

Maybe it has something to with your crome file?

Also you said it MIGHT be code 17? what'd you come up with when you got to pull the code?

ok im just gonna put everything out there that i can think of at 2 a.m.

checked/tried
-oil (added)
-Continuity between ecu and vtec selenoid
-tried a different chip
-100% stock P28
-raised vtec level
-VSS

There's more and ill post when i remember

but at one point if i check for codes, i get the vtec pressure code.

Well i have a JDM selenoid that has no pressure switch and i have no pressure plug on my harness.

but the CEL never comes on for this code.

Not sure where to turn to. def. need some serious help lol

i actually didnt have to do any wiring for the electronic VSS because the harness is for a

hydro car so the plug was there.

What im also noticing is, vtec will usually engage once or twice in a row as soon as the car gets warm..but after driving it for a few minutes after it just gets warm..it will not engage..

not sure if that has anything to do with the issue or not

i ran the jumper wire from D6 to A4 to bypass the vtec pressure...still nothing.

i powered the solenoid to the battery to see if it would work, and it did.

solenoid would open, vtec oil was released, vtec would activate, then "vtec oil' would leak past the busted o-ring and vtec would disengage.
