Default Bogart Drag wheel question

the guy that sold me the wheels said that he wasnt running extended wheel studs...
but a couple local guys here said I had to have them...

Not questioning either of them, just lookin for feedback because I dont know if i can get a set of studs in time for the next track event...
Run them or not?
I have the Long style lug nuts that came with the wheels.... if that helps..

Im not sure if the wheels themselves need the longer studs, but most tracks and sanctioning bodies will require extended studs. and metal valve stems too.

well, im not too concerned about the track... they wont be checking, I can almost guarantee it

im just worried about the slicks... and if the lugs will have enough threads on the studs to be safe..

If the studs do not reach into the head of the lug nut there will not be much holding the wheel on. The shanks on the lug nuts are pretty thin. Wouldn't take much for the head of the lug nut break off.
Hope that is kinda understandable

if they have a spacer welded on or you add a spacer you need extended.

spacer is to clear the caliper on some brakes on the 13" wheel

measure the thickness of the spacer, call bogart, http://www.bogartracingwheels.com they will get you the correct lugs. they are like 2 bucks a piece. but it should have extended studs.

with my bogarts I have their special lugnuts( not sure on what the correct name is but I thinks shanked)

the rim sits on them and not the threads!

For peace of mind, I would run the extended studs. Safety should be priority #1.

by the looks of the picture your shanked lug nuts arent open ended like the ones that bogart have...so if you were to get extended studs you will need new lug nuts also

i've run on stock studs over 200 passes never had a problem with my bogarts.

although my bogarts did not have a spacer.

had the special bogart lugs where the rim sits on the lug and lug extends into the rim and covers more of the stud.

but saftey is #1

im gonna be running the same bogarts with spacers on my car. i just bought the arp extended studs yesterday. with the spacers just on a rough visual guess you wouldnt have much thread at all for the lugnuts without extended studs...

I'm running the same Bogarts (15") on stock studs with some lug nuts with the shanks & washer (bought in package from O'Reilly) and they work fine for me. BTW this is with wheel spacers I bought from Pep-Boys (I believe 1/8" maybe?).

No problems here.
