Default Using MSD 6AL set-up, do I need a MSD Fuel/tach adapter???????????????

Well my car starts fine after chaning the Dizzy. When I hook up my MSD 6AL with HVC blaster coil, it doesnt start. Went back to stock and starts fine. The manual says if it doesnt start it may require a MSD Tach/Fuel Adapter.

The other thing is that, my tach doesnt work when the MSD is hooked up, sooooo am thinking that the ECU and the Tach get the rpm signal from the same place. So am guessing the ECU isnt getting a signal, what do you guys think?

Going to try hooking up the blue wire from the dizzy to the output on the 6AL to see what happens.

Also does anyone know if the Integra tach can work on a 12 volt square wave signal, or does it need a 5v digital signal. I have a converter from HKS, so ill be trying a few thing tomorrow.

If you got any input(other than, you dont need a MSD set-up under 400WHP ) it would be great. THANKS

O yeah, I know the wiring is right because I copied it from my cousins 01 Type-R. It didnt seem to have the tach wire modified in anyway. The fun begins all over again

IF ANYONE HAS A MSD SET-UP PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DID. THANKS

I guess i'll try hooking up that tach wire to the msd output. I guess that could be it.

BTW, I would get a new dizzy, because it the used one you get goes in a month or 2, ur gonna get a new one for sure. Might as well save ur self some trouble and get a new one with warranty. And mine is not for sale, because am not 100% sure what wrong with it(thinking its the crank sensor), and i live in Canada.

O yeah, my tach dosent jump. so guessing its no signal.

i have a msd sport compact. its the same as a msd 6. anyways what i did was drill a small hole in the front side of the cap installed a gromet and ran the 12v switched wire from the msd to the wire that was screwed to the + side of the coil then the white wire went to the wire that was screwed to the - side of the coil. then the orange and black wires go to the external coil. no need to wire anything diffrent for the tach. mine worked just fine with out being connected to the msd and you dont need the fuel/tach adapter

Thanks "grundle" u have been a big help. Set my car up the way you said and it started right up. THANKS MAN

Weird thing though, my cousin 01 Type R doesnt use the ICM in the dizzy. It takes it signal form the harness going to the dizzy His is a 6 digital, and it works fine.

But anyhow my MSD works, and soo does my 3 step, launch limter sounds pretty amazing and spools the turbo some what

Well I didnt notice it last night, but today i started it up, and the MSD is making a fast ticking noise only when car is running, it doesnt make the noise when the ignition is on. Am not sure if its easy to hear, because its in the passenger side floor.

Grundle sent you a PM

WOW MSD tech support is pretty quick. got a reply in a couple of hours. This is what they said:

The MSD ignition will generally make some type of noise when it isoperating. This is due to the fact the transistor in the unit isoperating at a frequency that is audible to the human ear. I wouldn't worry about it.

ya i used to have mine inside the car to. The noise was anoying and my wife always burnt her leg on it. so i moved it to the engine bay. I found a nice spot to mount it using a couple of L brackets that you can get at any hardware store and then i mounted it to the abs unit no drilling any holes looks good there and it puts it close to the distibutor. i would post a pic but i cant figure out how i'm a noob
