Have a 1989 prelude si, 5sp. Speedometer will sometimes jump up and down for several minutes, then either peg at about 30 MPH or will not work at all. Any ideas what part this could be, and where to find a replacement? Honda dealer quoted me over 600 for new speedometer assembly.

I dont know much about the 3rd gen, however I would say check for any wiring issues, check the speed sensor and if all else fails start searching the Market Place
and ebay for a replacement. Good luck
