calling all suspension/brake guru's...
i am STILL in the process of doing a rear disc swap on my ek... what trailing arm bushing do i need? are the energy suspension poly bushings good for a street car? i was told that there is a difference but energy suspension has the same part # for civic's and integra's.....HELP!
You probably won't notice if you don't replace them... They are the same size on most Civics/Integras. Just swap the spindles <- way easier than all that other bullshit. But, if you're hell bent on swapping and putting the bushings in, you can get the bushing remover from a company called SPC - Specialty Products Company. They sell all kinds of suspension stuff and all the related tools.
i am doin the whole spindle but the bushings are shot and i am annaly retentive about the details so i am gonna replace them i just wanted to make sure i would get the right ones

if you are set on replacing the trailing arm bushing, you're better off with an oem one.
if you want to improve handling, energy suspension bushings are good for other components. but with thier trailing arm bushing you will have a large amount of oversteer.

I just got done last Saturday with the trailing arm bushings replacement on a 97 4dr. BEFORE pulling the trailing arms find a local shop that can press out the old bushings and press in the new ones. Easy job priced high at some places. The tool the guy was talking about will work on the car without pulling the trailing arm and subsequently fully blowing your rear alignment. It retails for $190 can be found on Ebay and probablt H-T for under $150. Dealership will want a bleeding fortune for new arms + install.
the arms are not on the car.... they are from an integra and i am "rebuilding" them. why would you want to press them in or out while still on the car?

But it doesn't really apply to you since it obviously won't be aligned.

Hey, while there's another one of these repeatedly asked, useless questions in the forum (and I don't feel like searching) I can use it to my advantage.
Does anybody know which e-brake cables to use if u do a rear disk conversion with DC2 trailing arms/hubs.
You need the DC2 e-brake cable too, right? Obviously the drum e-brake cable won't work too well.
Oh well, just thought I'd throw that Q out there - don't intend on swapping my brakes - j/w.

You WON'T notice them, I was driving my friend's hatch around for awhile (getting pretty attached to it) - then he took it back, and during the night put in ES bushings on the trailing arms...then the next day I took it again and drove it around all day - and he calls me later and he's like "ride feels better, right?" - I had no idea what in the **** he was talking about - I wouldn't say they're worth replacing, but if ya wanna, go for it, it's not hard, there's even a write-up in the FAQ section on how to do it yourself with the Honda trailing arm bushing press.

so i won't notice them if i put new ones in compared to ones that are totally torn and dryrotted? sounds fishy but my original question was just if they are the same size in civic/integra because in the how to i read it said the arms are the same except for the bushing...
no, i think they're saying you wont feel much difference between oem bushings and the enegy suspension bushings. i would def replace them and go with oem.
Yeah on the get a shop to do it. Takes the guy minutes to do and my guy measured for depth and everything. The holes lined up very well when I put the arms back in. If the arms are out the only reasion to buy the tool is if you want to do your friend's cars too.
