Rear trailing arm bushing...Prothane or Energy Suspension?
I need to replace my rear trailing arm bushings. Energy suspension sells them for $21 but you need to reuse metal pieces. Prothane bushings cost $115!!! They come complete with the mounting bracket all in one piece. Is it really worth $100 more for the Prothane bushings? Anyone have any experience with these?

I got the prothane for the sway bars and i have nothing bad to say about it. It feels alot tighter. I can't compare it to energy suspension though since i never had their products but my friends who have energy suspension like it.

go with the energy suspension kit....
My is so sweet now after the bushing upgrade !!!!
Only thing energy doesn't make is the rear compensation arms ( go from control arm to body for toe adjustment)
Nothing wrong with energy's reuse of the pin saves you 100 bucks@@!! and works

prothane is way easier to install then the ES kit, with the es kit you have to use the old ring which in turn means that you have to burn ALL the old bushing out just to be able to reuse this piece for the energy bushings. the prothane parts come already with a new outside ring installed, so all you have to do is pop the old one out and the new one in and bam thats that.
so in my opinion PROTHANE all the way!!! but i will be using energy suspension for the rest of my bushings.
EDIT you may pay more for the prothane kit but its ready to install when it gets shipped to your door, and its not just the pin that comes brand new its a new ring pin and bushing. you may pay $100 bucks more for the prothane but it will save you 2 days worth of work!

The ONLY Energy product that reuses the ring is the trailing arm. As far as all the other bushings you dont. I would say pay the 115 and use prothane just for the trailing arms, ES kit for the rest. That's my setup and it rocks.

I have the Complete Energy Suspension Kit, I like the ES Rear trailing bushings, the quickest way i found to put the in, is to use a torch burn the rubber out and use a vise and squeeze the new one in, took me 15 minutes per side. By the way I love the full ES Kit.

I'm going to go with the energy suspension bushings, mainly b/c of price. I have too many other things to buy just to get my car mechanically sound. I can't afford to spend the extra $100 on bushings. I personally think the prothane buhsings would be a better product and if I had the extra money, I'd probably buy them. But I'm sure the ES bushings are more bang for the buck. They will get the job done for a lot cheaper and still provide good quality, possibly not the best, but that's personal opinion.

Prothanes are the easiest to install. However if you don't have a press, you can burn the others out with a torch and go ES. I did prothanes on my car, and did my buddy's car Friday night, arms were out in 15 minutes from stopping the car, and bushings took less than 5 minutes a side to install. Most the time was spent driving to the shop to use the press. Matted6 was there when we did it, again, quick and painless.
