crush bent - cheap, every exhaust shop can make one
mandrel bent - better flowing, mandrel benders are expensive and not every shop has one

Air flows better through smooth mandrel bends. This is especially important in a boosted application because the air is moving through the exhaust at a much faster rate.

you can try this experiment:

sip a glass of water or soda through a straw then slowly apply pressure mid-point on the straw.
