There was no "stock" vtec engine in Accords until 94 or 95, but the vtec engines can and have been swapped into 90-93 models.

you can do an h22 swap or an f20b swap. Both are DOHC and Vtec

Send your friend to http://www.cb7tuner.com all his questions will be answered there.

no the vtec started with the f22b's all the f22a are nonvtak in the u.s. i oppose swapping for a vtec f22b though they dont flow good and the vtec is only 2lobe in one lobe out so its basically economic not performance oriented like the civic or integra

In '92 I think the NSX was the only vtec. (I might be off by a year though)

sohc vtec is not worth the money or time. if you want to feel somethin get either the jdm f22b its dohc non vtec but if give you 20-30 horses. i know this cause i have it. I think the h22 is over rated. And f22 is best for turbo if you are boosting. h22 is better for na. But ya if he wants a vtec motor then h22 or f20. Those are you best shot. the f23 is not worth it.

VTEC was given to the accords in 94. Civics got it before 94, but I don't remember exactly which year.

grumpy's on the spot about h22 versus f22. I don't think the h22 is overrated though. sohc vtec isn't as spectacular as dohc vtec, but the slight kick is still helpful when you want to overtake someone.
